72-Hour Agreements

"An Act to Address Gun Violence in Maine by Requiring a Waiting Period for Certain Firearm Purchases" states:   

  • A seller may not knowingly deliver a firearm to a buyer pursuant to an agreement sooner than 72 hours after the agreement."

Definitions:

  •  "Agreement" means an agreement reached between a buyer and a seller for the purchase and the sale of a firearm.
  • "Buyer" means a person, not including a firearm dealer, who receives possession or ownership of a firearm through an agreement.
  • "Seller" means a person or firearm dealer that owns a firearm and that is transferring ownership of the firearm to a buyer pursuant to an agreement.

Agreement to Purchase or Sell Firearms at future Freedom Promotions Gun Shows:


Sellers (Dealers):

In compliance with the provisions of Maine's 72-Hour Waiting Period,  by providing the below requested information and submitting the form below, you agree to sell one or more firearms to Buyers who have registered their agreement to purchase a Firearm at a future Freedom Promotions Gun Show by submitting their information using the form below.  (i.e., you agree to become a participating dealer.) 


Buyers:

In compliance with the provisions of Maine's 72-Hour Waiting Period,  by providing the below requested information and submitting the form below, you agree to purchase one or more firearms from one or more participating dealers at a future Freedom Promotions Gun Show.


On completion of the form below by a Buyer, participating dealers will measure your 72-hour waiting period's start date based on the submission date and time of your form.  You will receive an email confirmation with a date/time stamp that you can use and provide to a participating dealer when you complete your transaction.   Buyers can identify participating dealers by looking for signage on their tables that indicate they have agreed to sell firearms to participating buyers.


Please note that Freedom Promotions does not facilitate transactions between Buyers and Sellers or keep records of any transactions that may occur at our shows.  This form and the collection of the information on this form is intended only to provide participating Buyers and dealers (Sellers) a method to document the date and time of their agreements. By providing the requested information, you agree that your information will be used to communicate information to participating Buyers and dealers (Sellers) at our shows, for the purpose of verifying their name, city, and state  as well as the date and time of the agreement to purchase or sale a firearm between Buyer and Seller during any covered shows.
